GSW organise exclusive networking event showcasing Reading FC’s new owners

Leading businesses from across the Thames Valley region were given a glimpse into the exciting ambitions of Reading FC’s new owners Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair at an exclusive networking event.

Companies from the IT, construction, professional services, logistics, automotive and legal sectors were the guests at the Select Car Stadium ahead of Reading’s EFL game against Stevenage.

The event was organised by GSW Consultancy as part of their exclusive commercial consultancy partnership with the Berkshire club.

Ian Birtley, GSW’s Senior Vice President Commercial, explained:

It was great to see 30 to 40 of the highest achieving businesses in the Thames Valley networking with each other and also connecting with senior figures at the club.

“It’s an exciting era for Reading under their new ownership and for many of the businesses we invited it was the first time they had ever engaged with the club – or the first time they had engaged in many years, certainly since the change in ownership.

“The atmosphere within the room was really positive with connections being made and we hope long-term relationships will have been formed that benefit all parties involved.

The Thames Valley region is often referred to as the Silicon Valley of the UK and Reading have become the first football club in the country to appoint a Head of AI.

Stuart Fenton is investigating how AI can benefit all areas of the business and guests at the event heard from him, along with Rob Couhig and Tim Kilpatrick, the club’s Chief Revenue Officer, during a Q&A session that formed the focal point of the event.

Guests were then invited to stay on and watch Reading in League One action against Stevenage where an early Charlie Savage goal was enough to earn them a vitally important 1-0 win to cap a successful night all round.
