GSW President shares his vast experience at leading sports conference

General Sport Worldwide’s President, Lou DePaoli, shared his vast experience and knowledge at the 20th Anniversary MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference (SSAC) in Boston.

Lou has more than 30 years of experience as a senior level business executive in MLB, NBA, and the NHL and currently oversees GSW’s Business Operations Consulting, Data & Strategic Insights, Executive Recruiting, and Coaching/Training verticals – so who better to moderate the panel “Elevating the Platform: Taking Sports Sponsorships to the Next Level,” bringing together industry leaders for a thoughtful discussion on the evolving sports sponsorship landscape.

Founded in 2006, SSAC is chaired by co-founders Daryl Morey (MIT Sloan ’00) and Jessica Gelman (HBS ’02) and organized in collaboration with MIT Sloan students.

Under Lou’s direction, panelists – Elizabeth Lindsey, President, Brands and Properties, Wasserman, Kirsten Corio, Chief Commercial Officer for the United States Tennis Association,Carolyn Braff, Vice President of Sports & Entertainment at PepsiCo, and Maggie Schmerin, Chief Advertising Officer, United Airlines –  shared terrific insights with the audience.

Lou said:

The SSAC brings together some of the most influential executives in sports and business from across the world and it was wonderful to spend some time with those people and also be asked to moderate one of the discussions.

“Daryl and Jessica are dear friends and they invited me to participate as a panellist in the first conference in 2006, which was held in a classroom at MIT’s campus, and it very quickly grew into a hugely important event on the sports industry calendar in the United States – as underlined by the calibre of the speakers, moderators, and attendees every year.”

“I am honoured to have been a contributor to the first SSAC as a panellist, and as a panellist, case competition judge, and now moderator throughout the years and to have been able to participate this year in the 20th anniversary of the event.”

All of us at GSW are proud to see Lou’s continued impact and leadership within the global sports business community.
