GSW welcomes Matt Stewart as Senior Partnership Sales Manager
General Sports Worldwide is pleased to welcome Matt Stewart to the business as Senior Partnership Sales Manager.
Matt returns to professional sport following a role as Partnership Manager in the charitable sector, bringing with him a strong track record built across nearly a decade in senior commercial positions.
He spent seven years at Manchester United in senior commercial roles, where he built deep expertise across venue and hospitality sales. Before that, he developed a broad commercial foundation at Newcastle Falcons Rugby Union Club, covering hospitality, advertising and sponsorship sales.
Matt said:
My first role with Newcastle was very broad — I sold everything from hospitality to advertising and it gave me a great grounding. At United, my role was more venue and hospitality specific, but it was all about generating revenue for the club. That experience is something I can now bring to bear for the clubs and sporting organizations we work with.
At GSW, Matt will initially support the commercial operations at Reading and Carlisle United as part of the Exclusive Commercial Partnership agreements GSW holds with both clubs. He will also contribute to a range of new commercial projects planned for the coming months.
Matt added:
Joining GSW represents an exciting challenge. I’m looking forward to the variety of opportunities the role offers – working across a number of different sports and alongside a team with outstanding experience.
Nicola Adkin, GSW’s EVP of Commercial Operations, said:
I’m delighted to welcome Matt to the business. We have worked together before and I know exactly what strengths and attributes he brings. The commercial consultancy side of the business is growing rapidly and Matt will be an excellent addition to the team.
