Honouring a true sporting icon

General Sports Worldwide were honoured to be invited to join in the celebrations of highly valued client Richard Whitehead MBE’s remarkable athletics career at an event in his home city of Nottingham over the weekend.

Richard, Paralympic gold medallist, world-record holder, and inspiration to so many people, set himself the target of running 20 marathons in 2025 alone, in the process taking his tally of completed marathons to 100.

The 49 year-old-old reached his milestone moment by crossing the finishing line in the New York City Marathon and he’s showing no signs of slowing, even hinting at possibly competing in the Los Angeles Paralympics in three years time.

Away from the athletics arena Richard is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion and has proved with his own achievements that anything is possible.

GSW are proud to have played a part in Richard’s remarkable journey and our CEO Sam Rush was among those invited to join the celebrations in Nottingham.

We look forward to continuing to support Richard as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his career, breaking boundaries and inspiring athletes and communities around the world.
